As the Manager of Altruist Trust Co. & Fiduciary Services, Inc.™ (“Altruist”) Distributions Operations Department, Karen McDowell oversees the verification, processing, and monitoring of all disbursement requests under strict separation of duty protocols. Through these efforts, she safeguards trust assets from fraud, waste, embezzlement, and diversion—upholding Altruist’s unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and prudent oversight. Ms. McDowell analyzes, verifies, and prepares distribution and deposit transactions with meticulous attention to detail, then submits them to Trust Officers for review and approval, ensuring accuracy and security at every step.

Ms. McDowell has dedicated nine years of service to the Distributions Operations Department at Altruist™. In this role, she leads a team of trust administrators and coordinators, providing cross-training to maintain seamless business operations and robust disaster preparedness. Ms. McDowell also coordinates with outside banking institutions—recognizing Altruist’s role as a financial institution—to facilitate treasury services associated with efficient, accurate payment processes for beneficiaries. Her deep knowledge of BSA/AML/CFT regulations underpins every aspect of her work, reinforcing Altruist’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and client protection.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. McDowell enjoys spending time with her four children, their spouses, and her six grandchildren. Karen also enjoys equestrian sports and loves to ride and show her horses.
